EXPERTS IN HPT FIELD
This list is based on the Pershing.et.al., (2008). He complied this list of fifteen human performance technology experts, who has participated in a survey investigating HPT’s current status, future trends, and issues.
Roger M. Addison, CPT, a respected practitioner of HPT and performance consulting, is senior director of human performance technology for ISPI and a past president of that organization. He earned his doctorate in educational psychology from Baylor University, and in 1998, he received ISPI’s highest award, Member for Life. Roger has worked and presented in North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Barbara A. Bichelmeyer is associate professor of instructional systems technology at Indiana University, teaching courses in instructional design, evaluation, and research methods. She consults with corporate, military, and government organizations on the design and evaluation of instruction. Barbara received her PhD degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas. Her research explores using instructional design and technology to foster intentionality toward learning among students.
Richard E. Clark, CPT, is professor of educational psychology and technology at the University of Southern California, where he heads the Center for Cognitive Technology and a doctoral program in human performance at work. His book Turning Research into Results: A Guide to Selecting the Right Performance Solutions (2002) received the 2003 ISPI award of excellence. In 2003, he received the ISPI Thomas F. Gilbert Distinguished Professional Achievement Award.
Diane M. Gayeski is professor of organizational communication, learning, and design at the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, and CEO of Gayeski Analytics, which assists organizations in assessing and applying new technologies and models for training, marketing, and employee communications. She received her PhD degree in educational technology from the University of Maryland. She is the author of several books and articles and a frequent presenter at conferences and executive briefings.
Roger Kaufman, CPT, is professor emeritus, Florida State University, director of Roger Kaufman & Associates, and distinguished professor at the Sonora Institute of Technology. He is a past president, Member for Life, and a Thomas F. Gilbert Distinguished Professional Achievement Award winner of ISPI, and a recipient of ASTD’s distinguished contribution to workplace learning and performance award. He has published numerous books and articles on strategic planning, performance improvement, continuous improvement, needs assessment, and evaluation.
Steven J. Kelly, CPT, founded KNO in 1979, after completing service in the U.S. Army. During the past decade, KNO has completed dozens of PI assignments with multinational firms and donor agency clients. Steven has degrees in business, management, and political science. Currently, he is involved in a long-term development project funded by the World Bank that will result in a permanent training operation for clients of the newly established Slovak State Treasury.
Margo Murray, CPT, is an ISPI outstanding member, Member for Life, and past president. A researcher, designer, and evaluator of facilitated mentoring, she has collaborated with clients in 26 countries on strategic planning and mentoring. Her book Beyond the Myths and Magic of Mentoring: How to Facilitate an Effective Mentoring Process (2001) is a seminal work on mentoring. Margo has spoken at international, regional, and national events and as a faculty member for
ISPI Institutes.
Geary A. Rummler, CPT, is founder and chairman of Performance Design Lab, a research and consulting firm that designs performance systems for organizations in the United States and abroad. He received his MBA and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan. His most recent book is Serious Performance Consulting: According to Rummler (2004). A 1986 inductee of the HRD Hall of Fame, Geary has served as ISPI president and received ISPI’s lifetime member award, distinguished professional achievement award, and presidential citation for intellectual leadership.
Donald T. Tosti, CPT, ISPI Member for Life and a recipient of the Thomas F. Gilbert Distinguished Professional Achievement Award, is managing partner, Vanguard Consulting, specializing in aligning organizational processes and people with an organization’s stated strategy. Don began working on contingency management in the 1960s. As principal investigator in developing a multimedia leadership and management course for the U.S. Naval Academy, he adapted the methods of performance analysis to the study of leadership and management behavior.
Arnoud Vermei leads WEB Performance, which focuses on the interfaces of organizational, process, and human performance and was one of the first consulting firms to concentrate on integral performance improvement in the Netherlands. Arnoud holds a degree in business economics, has fulfilled consulting assignments for several large multinational organizations in The Netherlands, and has made numerous professional presentations at European conferences.
Klaus D. Wittkuhn, CPT, is adjunct faculty member of the University of Applied Sciences in eggendorf, Germany, and Winterthur, Switzerland, and founder and managing partner of Performance Group Ltd., a group of companies in Germany and South Africa that design performance systems and performance-based training. He is coauthor of the book Improving Performance: Leistungspotenziale in Unternehmen entfalten. Klaus received an MS degree in political economics and educational science from the Ludwig-Maximilian University and the University of Bundeswehr, Munich, Germany.
Jaesam Chung is a faculty member in the Educational Technology program at Ewha Woman’s University in Korea. He consults with corporate and government organizations on instructional and performance improvement (PI). Chung received his PhD degree in instructional systems technology at Indiana University. His research interests include change management and organizational development, and he has been instrumental in introducing and promoting PI tenets and principles to
major corporations and universities in Korea.
Monique Mueller, CPT, is founder of La Volta Consulting, which focuses on performance improvement, human resource development, and international cooperation. She is a graduate of the School for Translation in Zurich, Switzerland, earned an MBA degree in the United States, and has worked with UBS Private Banking in Switzerland as head of training and development for a postmerger integration team. Monique is a founding member of ISPI Europe and was its president in 2002 and 2003.
Alan Stevens is managing director of Vector Europe Ltd. and a partner of Vector Group, Inc. As an internal OD consultant, with expertise in sales and distribution channels, he helped transform Prudential Assurance from a predominantly UK-based, face-to-face provider of financial services products to a global, multidistribution organization. Alan is currently supporting Turkish industry in preparation for Turkey’s joining the EC. He is a director of ISPI Europe and has served as chair of the ISPI Outstanding Human Performance Intervention awards committee.
Christian Voelkl, CPT, is a consultant with E&E Information Consultants AG, a Berlin-based company focusing on strategic performance and risk management. Chris advises business leaders on employee performance when large-scale change initiatives are introduced, and he has worked in Europe and the United States as an information system project manager and designer. Chris received an MS degree in educational technology from San Diego State University and a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in media technology from the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart, Germany.
